Gilfach Nature Reserve (to coincide with Cwm Weeg Garden visit in the afternoon)
A beautiful, relatively easy, circular walk through the Gilfach Nature Reserve in Mid Wales. This walk is timed to coincide with the afternoon visit to Cwm Weeg Gardens near Newtown. Spend the morning exploring the peaceful Marteg Valley, once a working farm of 166 hectares and now a haven for wildlife. Red kites, pied flycatchers and redstarts are all frequent visitors and you may catch a glimpse of dippers or even leaping salmon! The river has carved incredible shapes out of the bedrock and there are impressive cascades, dependent on the weather of course.
Cwm Weeg Gardens are approximately 19 miles away and a 40 minute drive following the most direct route.
