A circular walk starting from the historic Warwickshire village of Claverdon, which has (distant) links with Princess Diana and Charles Darwin, traditional and modern architecture. We will initially walk through fields, farmyards and woodlands, on fairly level paths with gate boundaries. We will eventually reach the Monarch's way, which leads us to the Stratford-Upon-Avon-Canal, marina and aqueduct. From here we will descend from the canal into Wootton Wawen, where we will have free time for the group to disperse, have lunch and visit several attractions. These include Yew Tree Farm craft centre, café and farm shop, Wootton Wawen Hall (façade and driveway), Catholic Cemetery, St Peter's Church (the oldest in Warwickshire) and Saxon Sanctuary, and Wootton Wawen village including the historic Bull's Head Pub. We will meet as a group at Pettiford Lane for the return walk, which is mainly along the canal, itself picturesque with some interesting split bridges to allow larger narrow boats to pass and barrel-roofed lock-keeper's cottage. Upon leaving the canal we will return to Claverdon via fields and Yarningdale Common, boundaries here include about half a dozen stiles, some are dog friendly but not all. We will end at The Crown Pub, where there should be time for the group to have a drink.
