Relish the turning of the seasons by joining us on this visit to the arboretum and gardens at Dyffryn. To mark the restoration of the exterior of Dyffryn House, there is currently an exhibition in the Morning Room about the ongoing conservation work being done onsite.  Please note the rest of the house is currently closed. We will have lunch in the cafe afterwards or you can bring your own food to eat elsewhere.

The arboretum contains 22 acres of woodland, featuring trees from all over the world including seventeen champion threes, many of which should be turning to yellows, oranges and reds.  There are a few videos about Dyffryn's Autumn colour on Facebook and here on Youtube.

We will also visit the gardens designed by Thomas Mawson in 1903. Although the plants may be well past their best, we can still appreciate the structures that create the bones of the different areas.  The Estate was sold to a coal magnate in 1891 who commissioned the creation of a garden on a great scale, a combination of landscape style, plus Garden Rooms in the Arts and Crafts Style. There is a nice little video on Facebook. There is also a large glasshouse with a fine succulent collection and lots of  statuary.
