A circuit of Bickerton Hill with spectacular views and a visit to Maiden Castle, the smallest but most accessible of the Iron Age earthworks on Cheshire’s Sandstone Ridge. We will be walking through a variety of heath and woodland, passing through the village of Brown Knowl, where Wilfred Owen spent some time as a boy, and (depending on the weather) seeking the precipitous site of Mad Allen’s Hole, a cave with a curious history.
