A moderate evening walk in the Southern Chilterns
This will be a 5 mile circular walk starting and finishing at the Bull and Butcher pub in the quaint village of Turville which has been the location for a number of films including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Vicar of Dibley. The village church, St Mary The Virgin Church, is picture perfect both inside and out. It is surrounded by a lovingly tended graveyard that is worth wandering through. On the top of the hill adjacent to the village is the Windmill which featured in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. There are also some very charming cottages some dating back to the 16th to the 18th centuries.
Our walk will take us on a journey though wooded countryside and open land where there are breathtaking views across the the southern Chilterns. There are a couple of steep hills to climb.
At the end of the walk we will have supper in the Bull and Butcher renowned for its homemade pies!
