12 Nov 2022: Bayford to Hertford
** Updated for final test of the walk on 05 Nov 2022 **
A circular walk of 8.2 miles in the cosy countryside of East Herts. The route starts in the middle of no-where, ventures into a picturesque small town, and takes in a current railway, a former railway, and some industrialised countryside. The picturesque quality of all parts of the walk overcomes the dim light typical of November. The smells of rotting leaves and crab apples fill the damp air. This year features an abundance of numerous types of fungi.
This walk is a repeat of Herts GOC's walk of 14 Nov 2015.
Elevation ranges from 40m to 96m, starting at 96m. Steepest ascent is 37m over 309m. Terrain includes footpath, bridleway and pavement. Expect mud.
Bring packed lunch, water and something to sit on.
Wear sturdy boots and windproofs/waterproofs.
Optional pub stop at the end of the walk.
