A short circular walk of ~5 miles followed by a meal at a pub or restaurant.

A survey for the venue has completed. The lines are closed. The votes are counted and verified. And we can reveal the venue selected by the popular vote in the members-only sections below.

Features on the routes include a combination of:

• railways;
• the glory of tonnes and tonnes of motorway concrete;
• superb views over rolling hills;
• a rather large viaduct;
• a chocolate-box village;
• suburban grand designs and architecture;
• a golf course;
• the location of Roman baths;
• sight of a vineyard (its first production was in 2025!).

If you are joining the lunch, bring water. If you are joining the walk without joining the lunch, bring packed lunch, water and something to sit on.

The route is exposed, with some parts elevated. Expect strong, cold January winds, perhaps laced with rain, sleet or snow.

The route is mixed terrain, with a significant proportion of hard-standing. Some off-road walking is required, so expect small amounts of mud (no mud-baths, swamps or quagmires, thankfully). Wear sturdy boots or sturdy trainers. Bring clean footwear for use in the venue.
