  • TerrainDifficult Walk – strenuous walk for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. includes hills and may be at a faster pace. Walking boots/shoes and waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness should contact the event organiser or walk leader in advance.

Vicar of Dibley, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Midsomer Murders, The Witches , Country Files and numerous other TV programs and movies have been filmed in this area of the Chilterns.

This is a Hertfordshire led walk inviting all GOC members for this "Awesome Challenge" 18 mile circular walk  from historical Henley-on-Thames the home of the Regatta. Visting Stonor Park which is a privately owned estate with the same family for over 800 years. Here we will have our Lunch break in the picnic area overlooking the grandeur of the estate. Our journey will continue to one of the most filmed villages in the UK - Turville. Here we will have a stop at the church and imagine the Vicar of Dibley passing us by or the sounds of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang flying above us from the iconic windmill. We will then have a short walk to Fingest the location of three Midsomer Murders. Opportunity for a refreshing beverage in one of these villages. Here we will ascent into a woodland with many plaques of reflection before continuing into the Hambleden Valley and the small hamlets/villages along the brook. Here there is major conservation in progress at Coldstrope Farm. We will arrive in the magical village of Hambleden - Joan Fontiane filmed her in 1966 on one of her last films. We will walk along the bubbling brook to Mill End and the weir and swing bridge for pedestrians to cross the Thames. Our final stint will be through the hills on Berkshire Loop of Chiltern Way back to Henley-on-Thames.

This walk is an all day event to enjoy the absolute natural beauty of the area.
