Media and publishing – your chance to get involved!

Are you a budding content creator?

GOC has exciting plans to use social media in a variety of exciting ways – video clips, training packages, digital member histories – and we need a new Magazine editor too!

You may not think you have all the skills, but we certainly have the opportunities, so read on...

Our archive display of 50th anniversary magazines and photos was  very well-received, but what about the next fifty years? The answer is Member Histories, part of our digital archive project. You have all got stories to tell, about your time with GOC, and events that shaped our community. All very well, but now we need new volunteers to help us put them all together. We are including On-line Forums, Podcasts, interviews and of course the written word.

What about today? Well, Event and Walk leaders are really needed as demand increases with new members arriving every month. This includes everything from Events Abroad to  persuading you to put together your local favourite walk. One answer is to create our own informal training videos. Here is your chance to try out new skills, meeting new friends from across the UK. Friendly support – and expenses – will be available for pilot projects, either at Group or National level

Finally, many of our Board members are seeking volunteers to assist their work. So, whatever your background, if you want to get more out of your GOC Membership,  this is your chance- we also have a Marketing Committee to relaunch. Make 2026 the year you decide to get involved!
