Yordas Cave, Turbary Road and Ingleton Falls
Yodas Cave and Ingleton Waterfalls
A spectacular walk taking in the magical Ingleton Waterfalls (entrance fee), the beautiful limestone scars of Kingsdale and the impressive Yordas Cave. The high level Turbary Road is a packhorse track that was used to dig peat for burning.
Yordas Cave is a solutional cave in Kingsdale. It has been renowned since the eighteenth century as a natural curiosity, and was a show cave during the nineteenth century. The old show cave entrance is 100 metres from the road up Kingsdale. A flight of three steps descend from the entrance archway into the Main Chamber, 55 metres (180 ft) long, and 15 metres (49 ft) wide. Take a torch if you want to explore the chamber.
The return route soon branches to a wild track leading over to pretty Beezley Falls, which we descend on a good path to back to Ingleton with its several cafes and pubs.
