  • Approx Distance 9 Miles
  • TerrainThe walk is classed as moderate, because of the length, and because there is a sustained climb uphill to the top of Hamps Fell (0 to 220 metres), although this is over a long distance. Otherwise, paths are good and mostly dry.

A varied walk alongside Morecambe Bay, through woods, and up on to Grange's nearby Hampsfell.  We'll also visit the villages of Cartmel, and will touch upon Cark-in-Cartmel, The Green, Allithwaite and Kents Bank, as well as Grange-over-Sands.  Historic interest on the route includes the Hampsfell Hospice, Cartmel Priory Church, and Cartmel Medieval gatehouse.  Views are extensive, towards the Lake District, and in the direction of Morecambe Bay, and beyond that to the Forest of Bowland, and the Yorkshire Dales.
