A mid-winter foray into limestone country of south Cumbria (Westmorland). With dramatic limestone crags and screes, and extensive native woodlands. From the top, there are also extensive views of the central high fells of the Lake District, the Howgill Fells, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Forest of Bowland, and the sands of Morecambe Bay. On some clear winter days, one can also see as far as North Wales. Low winter light makes the views all the more dramatic, with vivid winter colours.
