Brynamman
This is a 6 mile approx. mainly easy walk but with some ups and downs, circling the village of
Brynamman, which has an interesting industrial history.
The terrain is through fields and part on the cycle path, and by the River Amman, plus on good tracks but
could of course be wet or muddy.
There is a series of concrete steps at one point and 2 narrow bridges just a hip width apart over the
river – a bit like the very narrow bridge in Penllergaer woods.
We will explore a lovely nature reserve, Ynys Dawela, where a lot of work has gone on recently
restoring and making new paths with various themes.
It was originally a farm and colliery.
****Please note the slightly later start time to allow anyone to visit the cafe for breakfast and/or teas/coffees beforehand.
It's a lovely community cafe and shop selling fresh produce from within a 5-6 mile radius of Brynamman.
Unfortunately the cafe shuts at 2pm but it stays open during weekdays, selling instant teas/coffees/cakes for the local community
that should be available when we finish the walk.
You can find details and the menu here.
