London Club walk - 50th celebration
The London Club Walk is to celebrate the founding of GOC in 1974. We proceed south from Soho Square along Frith Street to Old Compton Street which leads into Brewer Street and left into Great Windmill Street.
We stop at 22 Great Windmill Street where in the summer of 1974 the young university men met in a basement bar to established our club.
From there we will walk (via Oxford Street and the BBC) to Regent’s Park for a picnic. The picnic area chosen is the Queen Mary’s Garden. If you have a packed lunch then this is an ideal space to eat it with lots of benches and (charging toilets) however, if you prefer then The Regent’s Bar & Kitchen is on hand offering a variety of hot and cold food plus drinks.
Following our lunch break we wander through the park towards the London Zoo area and then cross the main road to climb Primrose Hill for a mass photo shoot. The walk is approx. 5.5 miles and is anticipated to end at approximately 3pm.
The walk is mainly along London pavements, so comfortable shoes are essential.
