Quarry Bank is one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites, showing how a complete industrial community lived. Here you can discover the story of mill workers, mill owners and how the Industrial Revolution changed our world forever.

On your visit, you can explore the domestic life of the mill-owning Greg family in their home, Quarry Bank House. Or wander through the stunning picturesque gardens that rise up the banks of the river valley for stunning views and spectacular changes through the seasons. In the restored glasshouse and kitchen garden, you can see the array of exotic fruits and vegetables that were grown for the wealthy Gregs' table.

The valley garden at Quarry Bank is a rare example of the industrial picturesque movement, where elements of nature such as the caves and cliffs feature alongside the industrial mill backdrop to create a sense of drama.

There is so much to see in the gardens from the lower garden with the river flowing beside it to the upper garden with the glasshouses, vegetable beds, wall trained fruit trees, display house & colourful herbaceous borders.

The gardens are dog friendly but they must be on leads. Dogs aren't allowed in the Apprentice House, Mill, Weavers Shed restaurant & Quarry Bank House.
Admission price is £19 and that includes parking, entrance to the Mill, Quarry Bank House, Apprentice House, gardens & wider parkland. Tours are available for the Apprentice house with tickets available from the Welcome building, bookable on arrival.

NOTE: National Trust members do not need to pay the £19 event fee, but you will need to show your NT membership card on the day.

A guided tour of the gardens will be included with our visit and a short walk through the woods afterwards.
