This is an 8 mile moderate walk from Burry Port up onto Pembrey mountain.
The path goes past the monument to Amelia Earhart.
The monument takes the form of an obelisk, over 20 feet tall. topped with a weather-vane in the shape of her Fokker F7 seaplane, named 'Friendship' in which she became the first woman to make an aerial crossing of the Atlantic in 1928, landing in Burry Port.
The walk continues on a lovely green path to a chapel and onwards and upwards to Pembrey mountain where on a good day the views are fabulous over to Gower and the Loughor estuary, Kidwelly castle and a fine view of Ffos Las racecourse.
We then start the descent through a few lovely woodlands and then through fields giving us great views over the sea.
The short last bit is on the cycle track back to Burry Port.
Please note there are three stiles on this walk, two of which a dog could limbo under the fence, but the other one (which is quite short) would require the dog to step up onto the stile step and walk through.
***If bad weather prevents us from going onto the mountain we will do a lower level route on the seafront at Burry Port and Pembrey
