Visit to the gardens of West Green House Hartley Witney

Nine of us spent a very enjoyable sunny morning ambling around the gardens of West Green House. All the trees were bursting into leaf and the tulips were in full bloom. There were some unusual colours - deep burgundy, the palest of pinks and brilliant yellows with varying petal forms. Some simple others more complex and not just a single colour but a mixed palate.

The setting of the gardens enhanced the various different areas. There were woodland paths, carefully manicured lawns and a beautiful small lake. Bluebells occasionally raised their heads and added an extra shot of colour amidst the surrounding shrubs and trees.

We finished off the morning with lunch in the newly refurbished tea rooms enjoyed by all. Well worth another visit at a different time of year. West Green House is also a venue for classical concerts, opera and other interesting events all on their website.
