Solent/Dorset – Joint event with Southern Gay Sailors Group

We walked from Lymington Sailing Club to Keyhaven having being joined by the Southern Gay Sailors who had sailed into Lymington Harbour the previous night in a flotilla of 23 yachts all proudly flying the rainbow flag and receiving many envious looks.  Not all made the walk but we set off with 33 walkers plus several dogs making for the halfway point at the Gun Pub. The sky was clear blue and a gentle sea breeze made for a perfect walk as we walked along the sea wall with the bird sanctuarys and lakes on our right. After turning around we went inland glimpsing numerous wild life in the quiet fields before returning to the coast for the final hike making just over 9 miles.

After the walk we were invited for afternoon cocktails on the yachts by Andrew their vice commodore and then at 18.00 we retired to a marquee with the groups numbers swelling to 63 for a quizz and vituals and refreshments. A thoroughly enjoyable day which hopefully will be repeated in the future.
