OXFORD CITY DURING THE ENGLISH CIVIL WAR WITH OUR ANDREW D

Hi Gang,

Our Andrew D has been involved in shorter walks around his home and up to Toot Balden. This was his first attempt at relaying a major event in the history of the CITY OF OXFORD. As a result of a considerable amount of research he was surprised that 17 members (unfortunately 3 got lost before we started) some of whom had travelled some distance to be with him.

The walk made it's way both inside and outside the "Old City Wall, with some of it's bastions still accessable. Lunch (as always) was at the King's Arms PH, Broad Street.

After lunch we explored St Johns College with it's quiet gardens full of crocuses and fragrant winter flowers. We walked under the statues of both KING CHARLES I and his wife HENRIETTA.

St Mary's Church tower queue was too long so we settled down for tea and cakes before dispersing.

Thanks again to Andrew for his hours of research.
