Dovetailing nicely with our May walk, was this 7 mile ramble over part of the Longleat estate.
Starting high above the safari park with stunning views over the estate from Heaven's Gate viewpoint, the walk descended over field paths into the valley. Joining the formal drive to the house, the village of Horningsham was reached and the ubiquitous photo opportunity of Cock road.
A small amount of road walking along quiet lanes and field paths lead to the lunch stop on the edge of Maiden Bradley. A bit of this was shared with our May walk illustrating the geographic relationship between the two walks and how the area was divided up between the Stourhead and Longleat estates.
Returning to the edge of Horningsham by way of a different route and the climb back to the start point.
The photos testify to the weather and shear pleasentness of the day.
Thanks as always to Steve for laying on the walk and to all those who came along.
