JOGLE Day 31 Melrose to St Boswells

I started walking, 3 days of walking on St Cuthbert's Way. It is a pilgrimage from Melrose where St Cuthbert was trained by his teacher St Boswell,  to Lindisfarne or Holy Island. St Cuthbert was to become Bishop of Lindisfarne, but disliked high politics prefering to be living out on the Farne Islands with the otters and sea birds. He has a major shrine in Durham Cathedral. When St Cuthbert's coffin was re-opened, his body was still wearing a pectoral cross, the symbol used for the route. I will only be following it for 3 days and  won't reach Lindisfarne this time, but did complete the route in 2022.

Today I walked through the 3rd and last National Scenic Area, Eildon and Leaderfoot. National Scenic Area is a Scottish designation. In England I will visit 5 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The feature picture is a notice board for St Cuthbert's Way

The supplementary pictures are of the Eildon Hills, a gallery in Bowden Kirk (Church of Scotland) and donkeys. Today I hand fed donkeys in the Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary.
