I'm David Stockwell , a GOC member affliated to GOC West Wales and South Wales Groups.
Next year as part of GOC's 50th anniversary and my own 60th birthday I am walking from John O' Groats to Land's End between the 19 March 2024 and 19 July 2024 inclusive.
I shall be walking 1,331 miles on 5 National Trails, through 5 National Parks, 3 Scottish National Scenic Areas and 5 Areas of Outstanding National Beauty. I invite you to join me on the 100 stages I'll be walking
I will not be a walk leader in the convential sense. I will simply be walking at my own pace and you are welcome to join me.
Remember all the walks are linear walks, so consider what transport arrangements you need to get back to the start.
Please don't over-reach the mileage you attempt, consider the terrain being covered and distances involved.
It will be good to have your company on the walks and I look forward to seeing you.
It would be good to have a picture shoot with representatives of each walking area as I walk through the length of the country.
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice Days 34 and 35 between Kirk Yetholm and Byrness are missing. I am walking them, but I am dependent on a 3rd party to pick me up at a set time one day and drop me at a time convenient to them the following day. It makes the setting of times impractical.
I will be raising funds for the Rainbow Railroad, a charity that helps gay people persecuted for being gay in their own country, to get out to a safe country. Last year they got 12,000+ gay people out of Afghanistan. I am also raising funds for Cross Roads for Human Development , a charity providing Primary School Education for Dalit (outcaste) children in the village of Turukanadoni, Kanataka in the South India.
