Peter’s suggested visit to this garden was indeed inspired – a lesser known garden that proved to be a hit and rightly so.
Kentchurch has been in the same Lucas-Scudamore family for over 1000 years. As we assembled in the sunshine in the stable yard, history oozed from every stone. We were surrounded by fine buildings of differing styles that served their purpose over the years.
Warm greetings over, we made our way into the Garden (as the only visitors initially we felt very privileged ) where we wandered at our leisure. Lots of chat about the things we were seeing made for a relaxing time and conversation flowed easily. And there was lots of see. Well established trees, shrubs and perennials in abundance. Although we were nudging into Autumn when we visited, there was still lots of colour and interesting textures. Many of us also chatted to the very engaging gardener, Tristan, who commented that we were a most friendly group!
After a couple of hours soaking up the rays, wandering through the gardens and woodland, lunch beckoned. We helped ourselves to the teas, coffees and cakes on offer. We were easy in each other’s company as we talked about what we had seen.
It was a most enjoyable day and lovely memories were made. Looking forward to many more such events. Thanks again to Peter for suggesting this visit.
