seeWe were lucky with the weather today, given the months of rain we've endured. Our group of 13 set off from Broadmayne to enjoy a circular 7.5 mile walk of mostly flat terrain, passing a now sadly closed huge watercress farm, gravel pits being turned into the exclusive Silver Lakes resort, ancient woodland, and substantial residences.
Derek, our fungi expert, keenly showed us many types of fungi on the way, including the brilliant orange slime mould!
Reaching West Stafford, we had our picnic lunches on comfortable outdoor seating next to the village hall and The Wise Man Pub.
Once refreshed, we set off for the remainder of our walk, as before, mostly on convenient paths and lanes through farm land, to reach Broadmayne once again, where our leader Andrew invited everyone to his home for a cream tea and sherry trifle, to complete a rather successful and enjoyable day.
