After a very wet journey to the start our group of 13 plus dog met up in Winfrith Newburgh. A short walk through the village and up Winfrith Drove led onto the Lulworth Common. At this point we entered the Lulworth Estate skirting the edge of Burngate wood to pass the ruin of a folly entrance tower.
We continued downhill and along the valley flanked by sheep and lambs having distant views of Lulworth Castle and the catholic chapel; then turned left up the hill to another folly entrance arch and towers.
Arriving at Coombe Keynes we visited Holy Rood Church which is now the village hall for our picnic lunch. Our return via Coombe Wood treated us to a spectacular display of bluebells in full flower. At the walks end we retreated to the Red Lion pub for a well earned drink and a chat.
