Dorset Group 10 Apr 2022 : Lawrence of Arabia circuit via Clouds Hill and Moreton

On a beautiful sunny spring morning 9 of us meet up at the Forestry Commission Culpeppers Dish car park. We then headed south through Throop Heath and down to Clouds Hill where Lawrence of Arabia’s cottage is situated on the edge of the tank training grounds. Unfortunately there were no Army tanks training going on as the area was being used for a young Drivers car experience training day event instead. We crossed the road and then proceeded onto the Moreton plantation until we came to the river Frome, crossing the river using the long foot bridge beside the ford where many dogs were playing in the river we went to the Walled Garden at Moreton for our picnic lunch. During our picnic break some members visited the grave of T E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) and also visited St Nicholas Church Moreton which has the famous engraved windows by the poet and artist Sir Laurence Whistler. After lunch we followed the Jubilee Trail across farm land and through Oakers Wood walking in places on duck boards over some mud and then through Bryants Puddle Heath past Rimsmoor pond back to our cars.
