July 27 2005: Our happy band of 20 “AOGers” embarked on the 7-mile trek to Nicky Nook, and we're delighted to report that it was a resounding success! The weather was kind, offering lovely conditions to enjoy the stunning Lancashire countryside.

Nicky Nook lived up to its reputation for splendid views. From the summit, walkers were treated to panoramic vistas of Lancashire’s coastal plain, Morecambe Bay, and the majestic Lakeland fells beyond.

The walk itself, a good pull of 145m from Grizedale to the top of Nicky Nook Fell, was enjoyed by all. The mix of good paths, tracks, and pretty country lanes made for a varied and pleasant route. The section around Grizedale and its beautiful reservoir was particularly appreciated.

We were pleased that all attendees (a mix of old friends and first timers) successfully completed the walk together - fostering a sense of camaraderie throughout the day. Starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Scorton, many of us stayed on for a chat over a cake and a cuppa in the various cafes about town. The general consensus was a truly enjoyable and memorable outing.
