Saturday 10 August saw 23 of us assembling at Well near Alford in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds. Despite weather warnings galore,we enjoyed good weather pretty well throughout the walk The walk was conscientiously led by Philip, without a single wrong turn. The lunch break was at an idyllic spot at Well Church, where the group then split between those seeking out a local hostelry and the keener walkers. In the Evening a bigger group assembled for a delicious carvery (and further liquid refreshment!). A memorable and sociable day, enjoyed by all.
As summer fades we have ,perhaps, the last chance this year of a similar event, this time near Holbeach in Lincolnshire on SATURDAY 7 September. There those who book food in advance will also enjoy an evening of gaity, strutting their stuff on the dance floor. An event not to be missed.
And Jim Armitage of the Transpennine group has also advised of a walk not tooo far from our area,at Ashford on Water ,Derbyshire (near Bakewell) on 18 August.....A further chance for all for a sociable day out......Enjoy!
