Viking Coastal trail Broadstairs
Using sections of the Viking Coastal Trail passing a number of the Thanet beaches including Viking Bay, Louisa Bay, Dumpton Gap, and Ramsgate beach. We will go through the King George VI Memorial Park, pass the Italianate Greenhouse (Orangery), along to Ramsgate Harbour, St Augustines Church and The Grange (grade 1 listed) both designed by Pugin, Bleak House where Dickens wrote David Copperfield, among other places of note. This walk is chosen as a 'post-Christmas walk' and with the days getting dark by mid-afternoon, the accent is just to be out for a few hours enjoying the walk and pleasant company. Accordingly, there is a degree of flexibility depending prevailing weather conditions and light at this time of year. At the end of the walk, for those who do not wish to rush home, there will be opportunities for tea, for example Morelli's Gelato (1950's style ice cream palour, close to the bandstand), The Royal Albion, to name but two.
