Tinto is a prominent grassy hill in South Lanarkshire and is quite high at 711 metres. The ascent is straightforward and is popular with families but is sustained and steep in places. The views from the summit are stunning on a clear day.
As this is a January walk, there could be snow and ice around so good boots and warm clothes will be essential. It is planned to ascend the hill from the north via the WalkHighlands route. Depending on the weather conditions on the day and preferences of the group, we can either return by the same route (7km) or extend it as a circular route, either via Lochlyock Hill (529m) to the west (13km), Scaut Hill (586m) to the east (11km) or if sufficient cars available as a linear walk taking the slightly more challenging southerly descent to Wiston Lodge (7km).
