The Angidy Trail is an approximate five mile circular walk through the industrial landscape of the Wye Valley at Tintern.

The route leaves the car park of the Lower Wireworks, one of the most important industrial sites in the Wye Valley, and then gradually climbs up the scenic Angidy Valley to the remains of the 17th Century Abbey Tintern Furnace, passing numerous industrial remains along the way.  After lunch, a little further than the furnace at the pond that provided its water, we will descend back down the wooded valleyside to the River Wye, passing the iconic Tintern Abbey and ruined remains of St Mary's Church.  The walk will end at Abbey Mill, where clothing and handmade arts and crafts can be purchased, and both a cafe and a bar are situated near the river.

Most of the walk is in woods following the Angidy River up and down the valley.  There is one more strenuous climb after the lunch break, but otherwise the walk is relatively flat with several climbs over short distances.  The climb on most of the route is so slight, you do not feel you are climbing.  Boots are strongly recommended, as is good walking clothing if the weather is inclement.  Bits of the walk will be a little muddy after recent rain.
