Stroll Cheddar Reservoir (1350 million gallons)
Join us for an easy, level stroll on good paths on and near the Cheddar Reservoir, built in 1937 by Sir Robert McAlpine to keep Somerset in drinking water with 1350 million gallons in reserve. We'll be following the former GWR railway path and v quiet, country lanes. There will be no requirement to walk on water. There is no climbing on this walk, although there is one rough field to cross so you should choose your stout footwear. We'll be taking in the lovely vistas of the Somerset Levels with wildlife and farm scenes aplenty. The walk will finish with a bit of pavement walking to The Village Cafe and Bakery nearby for lunch, if you want to dine in. Carry water or a hot drink for the walk.
