Covid Secure Events - getting back outdoors
All of our groups are now able to offer events. Events may accept up to 30 attendees, including walk leaders, in accordance with Sport England and Ramblers' agreed procedures. Individual events may have a lower limit on participation at the discretion of the local group, of the walk leader, or as required by local regulations.
You will only be permitted to attend a GOC event if you have registered in advance via the website. Every person attending an event must register individually. A record of participants at all events will be kept, and will be shared with NHS Track and Trace if requested.
GOC discourages the sharing of lifts to reach events.
Any event may need to be cancelled at short notice in order to comply with local lockdown regulations, or where an event leader is required to self-isolate. Always check the website for any last minute changes in the morning before travelling to an event.
When attending an event, please ensure that you bring a supply of hand sanitizer and a face covering along with your usual food and walking equipment.
If you, or someone in your household, has Covid-19 symptoms you should self-isolate in line with government guidelines, and must not take part in GOC events. Symptoms include a high temperature, a new continuous cough and the loss, or a change to your sense of smell or taste.
Are you ‘clinically vulnerable’? If you (or someone you live with) are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from coronavirus, you should take extra care to minimise contact with others from outside your household.Taking part in a GOC activity may put you and those around you at higher risk. It may not be the right decision at this time. Remember – everyone over 70, and those with certain underlying health conditions are considered to be ‘clinically vulnerable’
Stirling History Tour
Due to current T3 Covid restrictions, this meet is postponed. I will speak with Jason at Stirling Walking Tours to arrange a new date sometime early in the New Year, if the rules and regulations allow.
A professionally led group tour of the historic sights of Stirling delivered by Stirling Walking Tours that was originally going to be delivered at the Stirling AOG (https://stirlingwalkingtours.com/).
A two and a half hour tour startling at Stirling Castle taking Stirling Old Town. The walk will start at c11:00 and finish at 13:30.
We may extend the walk after the tour and visit the Wallace Monument and Abbey Hill with views of the Ochill Hills and Stirling, at the discretion of the group.
This is a COVID secure event which will be run under the COVID 19 guidance and procedures of Stirling Walking Tours that make it exempt from the Scottish Government restrictions on gatherings. Any walk we decide do after the event to extend the day will be under GOC's procedures as required for Organised Sports Exemption under Scottish Government rules and following the guidance of Sport Scotland and the Sport Governing Bodies (in this instance these are Mountaineering Scotland and Scottish Ramblers). The GOC Scotland COVID Officer is David Archer.
Participants should only use their own equipment and not to share food or equipment with those outside of their household.
Please bring a face covering for use in shops, public transport and when directed by the guide.

- I do not currently have symptoms of COVID-19 (new persistent dry cough, fever, loss of taste or smell)
- I have not had a positive test for COVID-19 or onset of symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days. (Individuals who have completed their period of isolation (10 days) and have no remaining symptoms may return to normal activities)
