This is a linear walk involving taking the train from Winchester to Eastleigh where we have a short walk to the River Itchen and follow the River back to Winchester. The River continually splits into separate tributaries and rejoins after a short distances. It is unusual to have such a length of River without having to make detours and the River Itchen is one of the finest Chalk Streams in the Country and is most attractive and well worth walking.
