Sole Street to Borough Green Spring walk (10 miles)
This walk of approximately 10 miles length will follow part of the London Countyway (LCW), an outer ring walk around London. The LCW walking route was devised in the 1970s, much earlier than the better known London Loop. The LCW is further out from London than the London Loop and is 205 miles long as opposed to 150 miles for the London Loop. The LCW affords an interesting staged walk within the Home Counties, passsing many places of historical interest. This section avoids the long road walking section of the first LCW stage south of Gravesend by starting at Sole Street station which has immediate access to the countryside.
We will be walking mainly in the North Downs, passing through several typical dry valleys including the pictureseque Luddesdown Valley.
Note that this month the walk will take place on Saturday; this enables a more frequent return train service to London.
