
Plymouth Energy Plant
MVV welcomes visitors to the Plymouth Energy from Waste (EfW) Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Facility, where up to 100 lorries deliver residual waste every day. This is then burnt at temperatures of more than 1000oC to generate useful energy in the form of electricity and steam.
Please note the following important points about this tour:
TERRAIN
Any visitor with height concerns must be forewarned that the site tour includes a visit to the boiler platform which requires walking on metal mesh flooring at a height of 8 metres, through which ground level can be seen.
As the facility is a working power plant be aware the environment could be overwhelming for anyone with sensory issues which may be triggered by loud noises, dust or humidity.
All visitors must wear long sleeves, trousers and sensible enclosed footwear.
All visitors will be provided with the necessary PPE, this will include a hard hat, safety glasses and a high visibility vest.
After the tour for those that want to we will head across the Tamar Bridge and on to Tamar View Nurseries Garden Centre, Callington Road, Carkeel, Saltash, PL12 6PH, for lunch or coffee and cake.
