This a more strenuous circular walk of about nine miles exploring the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in beautiful autumn colour, near historic Monmouth, where the walk starts.

Initially, we will head steeply up quite a challenging hill along the Wysis Way and the Offa’s Dyke Path to The Kymin Naval Temple with its fabulous views.  We will then walk through ancient upland woodlands, passing the exposed cliff face of Near Hearkening Rock, again with great views, before briefly crossing the English/Welsh border twice.  We will then descend to the River Wye, cross the river over the Biblins suspension footbridge, and return to Monmouth via a pleasant riverside walk.

Those requiring a shorter route with an almost level gradient along both sides of the river, can spend a little more time in Monmouth, walk up one side of the river from Monmouth to the Biblins suspension footbridge, meet the group, and join us for the riverside walk back to Monmouth.  Estimated time of arrival at Biblins Bridge is 2 pm.

Note, this is a Saturday walk.

PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE ATTENDANCE LIST FOR THIS WALK, IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND, IN LINE WITH CURRENT COVID-19 REGULATIONS (AND REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR NAME OFF, IF YOU ARE THEN NOT ATTENDING).
