Covid-19 - getting back outdoors
All of our groups are now able to offer events. In England and Wales, up to 30 people (including the organiser) may attend each event. In Scotland a maximum of 15 people, from a maximum of 5 households may attend.
Groups may choose to implement a booking system for their events, or revert to the standard "attendance" system. Everyone attending an event will be required to provide their name and contact details to the event contact for Track and Trace purposes.
Local restrictions may affect any events at short notice, please be aware that some last minute cancellations may be neccessary. Registering your attendance on an event, and ensuring that your profile is set to allow general messages from GOC, will ensure you can be informed of any last minute changes.
Knoydart Long Weekend
I have had to cancel this weekend away, hopefully this the last meet to fall this year. The Knoydart Foundation Bunkhouse are only letting for week blocks for exclusive party use for the time being. I did try and modify our booking on this basis, as the price was good, however a group, who overlapped with us have first refusal because they booked before I did, and they have taken the slot.
Also, the current COVID 19 restrictions for Scotland, while permitting groups of 15, the 15 must be from no more that 5 households, so we would currently be outside this restriction (I would however like to think that the restriction would be relaxed by Sept, but there's no guarantee that this will happen).
I have transferred the booking to 2021, same weekend (Friday 10th Sept 2021 for 3 nights, depart on Monday 13th). If you would like me to transfer your booking to next year or if you would prefer a full refund, please let me know. You can change your mind either way nearer the time if you wish.
If restrictions are relaxed in Scotland, I will put a mountain walking day walk (thinking of Ben Vorlich or Mount Keen, but up for suggestions) for that weekend and there may be possibilities for an overnight somewhere at short notice.
Sorry to disappoint again. Hope you're all keeping well in the meantime, and hopefully will be able to see you all soon.
A three night stay on the remote Knoydart peninsula, staying in the Knoydart Foundation Bunkhouse in the village of Inverie. We will be hillwalking on some of the most remote hills in the UK, plus there plenty of opportunities for low level walking on attractive beaches and coastlines.
People intending to take part in this event should read GOC's document Safety in the Hills.
