LansdownAround
An 8 mile circular walk centred on Lansdown, taking in the rolling hills and countryside to the NW of Bath.
Across fields, through spinneys, visiting two small hamlets early on. The second half of the walk takes in the Cotswold Way with extensive views to Bristol, the Severn bridges, a large swathe of South Gloucs, Bath and North Somerset from the higher ridges and viewpoints that the Cotswold Way affords.
With several springs, gates aplenty and only two stone stiles, this walk is dog-friendly although dogs and well-behaved owners will need to be kept on a short lead as there is livestock in some of the fields.
The elevation varies, with several short ascents and descents early on, and a gentle climb up to the CW. The walk -in is fairly flat and skirts around Bath Racecourse. A stewards’ inspection deemed this section of path to be “good to firm, firm in places”.
