JOGLE Day 88 Hartland Quay to Bude
From Hartland Quay to Bude the land structure is West to East, the coast is north to south. The sea bashes the coast from the West. The result is lotsĀ of rock lines of resistant rock going out to sea, and small deep valleys and coves.
For walking purposes it means a lot of walking up and down. It is one of only 5 sections the South West Coast Path Association grade as SEVERE.
Having said that wave watching is great and it is exhilarating
Highlights include Speke's Mill Mouth Waterfall. St Catherine's Tor and Hawker's Hut. Hawker was a vicar, surrounded by smugglers and wreckers . Apparently tried to use his hut to warn ships away. He also had a reputation for wearing bright clothing, drug taking and excommunicating cats.
However the stars are the cliffs.
