JOGLE Day 82 Lymouth to Combe Martin
For a final and testing day in Exmoor we begin with a zig zag climb up to Lynton and contour round to the Valley of the Rock. An unusual valley parallel to the sea with many pinnacle rocks. Legend has it Jack (the Devil) returned home to find his wife midst an orgy. So furious was he that he petrified the participants.
After passing Lee Abbey and Lee Bay we enter the woods round Woody Bay emerging near Hollow Book waterfall.
A steep descent into Heddon Mouth valley followed by the steeper twisting ascent, before a walk on the cliff top, a climb and then a contour round Holdstone Hill before a descent into Sherrycombe
From there a steep ascent to the highest spot on the whole South West Coast Path, Great Hangman at 318m/1,043 feet.
From Great Hangman to Little Hangman, round Lester Cliff and then descend into Combe Martin.
Combe Martin is said to have the longest High Street in England and a pub made to look as if it was a pack of cards standing upwards, called the Pack o' Cards.
