JOGLE Day 66 Birdlip to Painswick

Event Details

From Birdlip we return to the Cotswold Way into Witcombe Woods and round Cooper's Hill, where an annual cheese rolling contest takes place. You'll be able to appreciate how steep that hill is.

We climb back up the escarpment, then descend to cross the A46 into Pope's Wood.

We pass Painswick Beacon, an Iron Age Fort, round the golf course, eventually coming out on a road that will take us into Painswick.

Apparently the chuch in Painswick contains the finest set of carved table tombs in Britain surrounded by 99 yew trees. Inside there is a massive model of Drake's Bonadventure
