Today we begin the West Highland Way, a Scotland Great Trek and thought by many to be the most beautiful National Trail in the UK. It passes many Munros, and goes through some of most remote parts of Britain

It starts with a longish road walk out of Fort William. Then a long climb through woodlands, with glimpses of Ben Nevis across the valley. There a long trek over open hills before the decent into Kinlochleven, with it's sea loch.

Kinlochleven is in midge country but hopefully it will be too early for midges, but is it so early that snow could be prevalent?
