Glentress Circuit from Peebles
For this easy 7 mile walk we join forces with the Glasgow Gay Ramblers - a long standing group, who for the last 45 years or so have been meeting monthly for local walks in the surrounding countryside. For their August walk each year, they head slightly further afield and this year extend a welcome to GOC members to join their walk in the Glentress Forest near Peebles.
Better known for it's award winning mountain bike trails, the Glentress forest also includes a network of footpaths suitable for walkers. This particular walk is described in details on the Walkhighlands website and affords some of the best views in the area as well as a points of interest such as the site of an iron age fort inhabited by the Romans around 79AD and the ruins of Horsbrugh Castle.
