  • TerrainThis walk is approximately 5.5 miles long and is a hard walk. There are two long/steep climbs. There is one very steep descent. There is lane walking but mostly there are footpaths and tracks. At the time of the recce these were firm and dry but they could become muddy after rain. There are a few stiles but these were relatively easy. There is one path with steps and no hand rail.

This is a lovely walk which gives views of the River Dart, Torbay, Dartmouth Naval College and the steam railway.

We walk through fields and woodland and past some idyllic holiday cottages. There are steep climbs and a descent which require concentration. The effort is worth it though for the beautiful Devon countryside on offer.

The drive to Dittisham from Totnes is also a beautiful trip passing through Cornworthy and Tuckenhay, alongside tidal creeks, waterside pubs and old mills.

Dittisham itself is also worth exploring and a foot ferry will take you over to the other side of the River near to Greenway, Agatha Christie’s summer retreat.
