Dinas Powys to Caerau Hill Fort circular
This is an easy to moderate 6.5 mile walk starting and ending in Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The route passes through Cwm George Woods, and the Salmon Leaps ponds on the Cadoxton river, and following Cwrt yr Ala Road, arrives in Caerau in west Cardiff. Fields of llama and emu make a surprising appearance en-route, and a short walk up a hill leads to the site of Caerau Hillfort and the ruins of the 13th century church of St Mary The Virgin, with views northeast across the city. The walk back passes through the picturesque village of Michaelston the Pit.
It is a generally well made path, but there will be some muddy patches. Walk starts at 10.30 am. Dogs on leads please.
PLEASE NOTE, UNDER CURRENT COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS, YOU MUST ADD YOUR NAME TO THE LIST OF ATTENDEES FOR THIS WALK, IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF, OR SUGGESTIVE OF, THE VIRUS.
