Bridge of Allan and Dunblane Circular
Bridge of Allan and Dunblane Circular using the Darn Road
The Darn road is an ancient trackway connecting Dunblane to Bridge of Allan that mostly follows the East Bank of the River Allan. It is usual to do a linear out and back walk between these two towns following the Darn Road, but this walk links woodland, field paths and lanes to make a circular walk.
This walk is a preparatory walk for the Stirling GOC Annual Outdoor Gathering (AOG) in 2022 and has not been walked in advance, so the walk may have a bit of an exploratory feel to it in places.
About 8 miles and 200m of ascent, mostly farm tracks woodland paths and crossing some fields, some sections are on quiet roads.
