Between the Acres - mid week and mid month
A circular walk based on the historic Norfolk village of Castle Acre with its ruined Cluniac priory and Norman castle. The route leaves Castle Acre along a narrow lane that fords the river Nar, giving a distant view back towards the priory ruins. Then along a short section of a quite country road before turning off on a farm drove to climb to a ridge of hills (these are gentle, Norfolk hills) that form the southern boundary to the Nar valley. A walk along the ridge will provide distant views before descending once more to the river Nar which is crossed on another ford to join a section of the Nar Valley Way across Castle Acre Common before re-entering the village.
