  • TerrainA fairly short mountain walk, quite steep and sustained, but interesting throughout

Beinn an Lochan is a prominent mountain (a Corbett) on the south side of the Rest and Be Thankful pass.  At 901 metres (2956 ft) its not far short of a Munro, and indeed it was once on Munros tables before more accurate mapping revealed that it fell somewhat short of the magic 3000ft mark.

The normal route of ascent follows the interesting NE ridge from just below the summit of the R&BT pass.  The ridge rises quite steeply in a series of rocky steps with some easy scrambling and mild exposure - but is never too difficult. This is quite a short walk at c6km with 720m of ascent, about 4 hours.

Photos are generic mountain pictures - I'll search my slides to find some more authentic pictures if I get time.
