Autumnal Birmingham: an urban and waterside ramble
This is a variation on our Spring 2025 'surprisingly green Birmingham' day out but reversed, with a few route tweaks, to make the most of the Autumnal views.
We will start our 9-mile walk at St. Philip’s Cathedral, just a few minutes walk from New Street Station.
Birmingham’s famous canal network makes up the morning part of the route. After exploring Gas Street Basin, once central to Birmingham’s industrial past we will head to Edgbaston and see the leaf fall in the University grounds.
After lunch, the former railway from Harborne, now a tranquil path, is our route back to the tranquil waterside of Edgbaston reservoir.
It's a largely traffic-free route and there will be time for a tipple at the end.
